Install Recoly

Download the Recoly .dmg, open it, and drag Recoly into your Applications folder. Eject the disk image, then launch Recoly from Applications. The first time you record, macOS asks for Screen Recording permission — approve it so Recoly can capture your screen.

Opening Recoly for the first time on macOS

Recoly is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a normal double-click. The first time you open it, macOS asks you to confirm you want to open an app downloaded from the internet — click Open. That's the only prompt; you won't need the Privacy & Security workaround that unsigned apps require. After the first launch, Recoly keeps itself up to date automatically. If it still won't open, email support@recoly.app and we'll help.

Question 3

Activate your license

Accepted Answer

Open Recoly, go to the License section, and paste the key from your purchase email. Activation links this Mac to your license. Each plan activates on up to 3 Macs.

Question 4

Move Recoly to a new Mac

Accepted Answer

Sign in to your account portal, find the Mac you no longer use, and deactivate it. That frees a slot so you can activate Recoly on the new Mac — no need to contact support.

Download the DMG

Accepted Answer

Your purchase email and your account portal both link to the latest DMG. Always download Recoly from recoly.app or the link in your email so you get the genuine, notarized build.

Question 6

Recording screen, audio & webcam

Accepted Answer

Choose full screen, a window or an area, then toggle system audio, microphone and webcam. The webcam shows as a self-view bubble so you can frame yourself; it's excluded from the capture and composited separately.

Editing your recording

After recording, Recoly opens the editor: trim, auto-zoom on clicks, add a background, round the corners, drop it in a device mockup, and add captions. Edits are non-destructive — your original is never changed.

Exporting & sharing

Export to MP4, WebM or GIF on any plan; Pro adds 4K and ProRes plus frame-rate control. You can also copy a GIF for quick bug reports, or go live over RTMP with Pro.

Account portal

The account portal at recoly.app/account lets you sign in by email, view your license and activations, deactivate a Mac, and find your latest download. No password — sign-in is by a one-time email link.
